Addiction is defined as a chronic, relapsing disorder composed of compulsive drug seeking behavior, continued use despite harmful consequences, and loss of control over it's usage. Addiction is considered both a brain disease and a mental illness.

Quite often the last thing someone suffering from addiction wants to do is pick up the phone to check some facts or ask questions. If any of the FAQs below strike a chord with you or someone you know, please get in touch. We will be happy to assist you by answering any other questions you may have.

Signs of Addiction

  • You need more and more of the substance. You build a tolerance and the old amount you once used no longer has the same effects.

  • You mentally obsess about your next drink or drug. How will I get it? How will I get more? What do I have to do to get it? This obsessive behavior can effect your job, relationships and personal goals.

  • You steal and borrow to support your addiction and don't care who you hurt in the process.

  • Isolation from family and friends to hide your drug or alcohol usage.

  • Once you start, you cannot stop. Having just one drink or drug is almost impossible for an alcoholic or addict.

  • You can no longer find happiness. You are feeling miserable, depressed and alone. The only thing that can fill that void is a drink or a drug.
